Which one is best for digitizing? Raster or Vector file formats

  • Raster images:

A raster image is created up of pixels, which are tiny squares of data. These are provided pictures on a pixel-by-pixel base, which are deemed perfect for bright and vibrant pictures like photos. In case there are many grades or colors in a design, raster graphics are best to select. These pictures are designed while capturing a picture with a digital camera, looking at a picture, or making a picture in software that is used for raster images, Adobe Photoshop.

  • Vector images:

Vector images, also known for their flexibility are built using mathematical formulas. Unlike raster images, vector images are not made up of grid of pixels. The best thing about vector images is that it can be scaled to a larger size without losing any image quality. When vector files such as EPS, AI and PDF, are zoomed to their maximum size, their graphics stay smooth and clear instead of breaking down into colored blocks. Thus, making vector image an excellent choice for logos, which can be small enough to be on a business card or large enough to be on a billboard.

  • Advantages of raster images:
  • These are a perfect option while working related and sharp pictures. All the pixels in a raster form can be of various shades. So it is likely to make a difficult form with many variations and tone changes.
  • Raster files can work about all the forms, the various known forms doing the Adobe Photoshop.
  • Disadvantages of raster images:
  • Raster images cannot be easily measured or scaled. If you want to increase a raster form, it will seem gritty and deceive. The reason for this distortion is, these images form with the number of pixels. When you double the measurement of a raster image, the image grows in measurement, though; this is because there is no any big pixel to fill distorted spaces. Spaces are formed in the pixels in the picture. Only photo editing apps fill these spaces. But this results in a blurry picture.
  • Advantages of vector images:
  • Vector files are short because they hold so smaller data than raster form data.
  • Vector graphics are also malleable than raster images because they can be quickly sized up and forward out some damage to the state of the form.
  • Vector graphics have sleeker parts when related to a square, pixel-based raster images for, they are more careful with vertical columns and full arches than raster images.
  • Disadvantages of vector images:
  • If there are few mistakes or failures in vector images, these will be observed when the vector image is increased notably.
  • Vector graphics are usually colored with a fixed shade or a grade. They can’t present specific form fields while a raster image.
